FONTAINE: Dorothy W. , of St. Johnsbury, died early Wednesday
morning, Feb. 18, 2004, at home at the age of 80 years. She was
born in St. Johnsbury June 2, 1923, the daughter of Albia and
Eleanor Wightman. A graduate of St. Johnsbury Academy, Class
of 1941, Dorothy went on to Brightlook Hospital where she
received her RN degree. For over 55 years, she had been nursing
either in a hospital or private home care. She was a past member
of the Nurse's Association. Many will remember Dorothy as a
cashier at White Market or earlier at Fontaine's Superette in St.
Johnsbury. She loved flowers, birds (cardinals), animals, and her
rides in the country with family and friends. On Feb. 8, 1945, she
married Eugene Fontaine, who predeceased her Feb. 7, 1996.
Survivors include two children, Paul and his wife Bonnie Fontaine
of St. Johnsbury, and Dorothy Killmer of Amenia, N.Y.; three
grandchildren, Ryan Killmer of Amenia, N.Y., Kimberly and her
husband Matthew Keafer of St. Johnsbury, and Kelly Fontaine of
St. Johnsbury. She was also predeceased by her stepfather,
Brooks Warner. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John the
Evangelist Church in St. Johnsbury, Saturday, Feb. 21, at 11 a.m.
Spring burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends are invited
to meet the family at Sayles Funeral Home, Friday, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
