Colleen Marilyn Dunn Easterbrooks passed away Tuesday morning,
March 19, 2013 at The Pines Rehabilitation and Health Center in Lyndon.
She was born July 4, 1924 the only child of Lysle and Phyllis LaFrance
Dunn. She attended schools in Victory and Granby and graduated
from St. Johnsbury Academy in 1942.
On Feb. 16, 1944 she married Guy R. Easterbrooks and they made
their home on the family farm on Pudding Hill in Lyndon. They lived
there all their married life and raised their three children there.
She was an active member of The Pudding Hill Mothers Club working
diligently to raise money in support of the school. Later on she
worked at the Pyrofax Gas Company and then Vermont Tap & Die.
After she retired in 1988 she became a RSVP Volunteer logging over
15,000 hours. She made mittens for children and lap robes for
nursing homes and veteran's homes in the area. She also volunteered
for the Orleans County Citizens Advocacy, Umbrella and Northern
Counties Health Care helping with mailings to the community. In
2000 she received the Special Recognition Award from Chapter 33
Telephone Pioneers of America. In 2008 she received the Governor's
Award for Outstanding Community Service.
She is survived by her three children, Elsie (and Bob) Lawrence of
Lyndonville. Eileen (and Dean) Coulter, Sr. of Dalton, N.H., and Robert
(and Lawrie) Easterbrooks of Lyndonville. Also by nine grandchildren
and 13 great-grandchildren, Jeff, Suzan,Erin and Ryan Langmaid of
Fair Haven, Vt.; Gary and Barbra Langmaid of Albuquerque, N.M.;
Dean Jr., Tina, Dakota and Dylan Coulter of Gulfport, Miss.; Mark
Coulter of Savannah, N.Y.; Debbie, Darren, Quentin and Gracie Peavey
of Lunenburg, Vt.; Richard, Brooke, Christina, Rebecca and Wyatt
Coulter of Lancaster, N.H.; Jamie Easterbrooks of Manchester, N.H.;
Daniel, Autumn, MaryJane and Courtney Easterbrooks of Lyndonville
and Bryan and Robert Easterbrooks of St. Johnsbury, Vt. She was
predeceased by her parents, her husband and a grandson, Andrew Lee Easterbrooks.
A memorial service will be held on April 5, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the
Lyndonville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Matthew Bowls
and John Sleeper officiating. There will be no calling hours.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Lyndon Center Cemetery.
