Clifford E. "Cliff" Lovering , 79, of St. Johnsbury, died Friday afternoon,
Sept. 22, 2006, at Canterbury Inn in St. Johnsbury. He was born Oct. 15,
1926, in Manchester, N.H., the only child of Charles and Jennie (Gadapee)
Lovering. Cliff was raised in St. Johnsbury and following graduation from
St. Johnsbury Academy, he entered the U.S. Navy during World War II. He
worked for many years for Vermont Salvage on Portland Street as a truck
driver and scale operator. During the last 25 years, he worked as the
sexton at North Congregational Church in St. Johnsbury. For over 30 years,
Cliff enjoyed spending part of his summers at Lanakela Camp for boys and
girls on Lake Morey in Fairlee, Vt., busing and cooking for the campers.
Survivors include many friends as well as the North Congregational
Church community. He will be sadly missed. He was predeceased by his
parents, his mother on Dec. 14, 1989. There will be no services. Donations
