Clifford Greenwood, of Sand Hill in St. Johnsbury, passed away at
home Wednesday, April 20, 2011. Many of his close friends and family knew him "Oskey."
He was born in Woodsville, New Hampshire on Aug. 13, 1929, and
was the last survivor of seven children born to James L. and Nina
(Chandler) Greenwood. In 1975 he was predeceased by his wife, Betty (Aiken) Greenwood.
He was also predeceased by his three brothers: James, Charles, and
Duane; and his three sisters: Jeannette Wheelock, Jean Manson, and Frances (as an infant).
For 52 years Cliff worked at the former C.H. Goss Co. on Summer
Street. It was the only job he would ever know. He served in the U.S.
Marines just after the end of World War II. Hobbies included riding
his Harley Davidson in his younger years, target shooting, and hunting.
He is survived by his longtime companion, Virginia Mumford; Cliff's
two children, Susan Mold and Bruce Greenwood; Susan and Roo's two
children Brendan and Lindsay; a very close nephew, Ed Wheelock of
Gilman; other nieces and nephews; Virginia's children and their
extended families, Milton Mumford, Fran Douglas and husband Mark,
Stephen Mumford and wife Karen, Walter Mumford and wife Mary
Jo, Leroy Mumford and wife Sandra, George Mumford and wife Aida, Timothy Mumford and wife Gina.
Public graveside services will be held Monday, May 2, at 2 p.m. at Mt.
Pleasant Cemetery. Mr. John Sleeper will officiate. Services will conclude with military honors.
