Beverly J. Hopkins, 84, of Lyndonville went to be with her Lord and Savior and
her beloved George while surrounded by her loving family Thursday morning April 26, 2012
at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital in St. Johnsbury.
She was born Feb. 27, 1928 in St. Johnsbury the daughter of Robert and
Etta May (Foster) Holbrook. She graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy in 1946.
On Feb. 22, 1950 she married George Hopkins.
Beverly was an active wife, homemaker and mother,
raising three sons and a daughter. Along with her husband she
was an active member of the Shrine. Bev also was a member of
the American Legion Auxiliary Post 58 of Lyndon where she was
a past president, the Order of Eastern Star, and volunteered at
Northeastern VT Regional Hospital. She was a loving and caring
mother, grandmother and great grandmother who enjoyed
summers at Willoughby Lake, traveling with the Shriners where
George was Potentate of Mt. Sinai Temple, and attending her
children's and grandchildren's school and sporting events.
Survivors include her four children: Stephen Hopkins and wife
Margaret of Jefferson, Md., Sherri Wood and husband Dave of
Lyndonville, Peter Hopkins and wife Janice of Lyndonville and
Greg Hopkins and wife Stacy of Lyndonville; 10 grandchildren,
Kristina, Mathew and Julie, Ben and Stephanie, Heather, Amber
and Dan, Amy, Timothy "TJ," Jason, Brian and Benjamin; five
great grandchildren; two sisters, Lois Holbrook of Shelburne, Vt.
and Sandra Holbrook of Milton, Vt.; her in-laws, Leone Gale of
Lyndon Center, Maybelle Shannon and husband John of
Brewster, N.Y., and Leon Hopkins and wife Gloria of Montpelier;
several nieces, nephews and close friends.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, George on
Oct. 29, 2007; her brother, Kenneth Holbrook; and her sister,
Marion Handy and a granddaughter, Nicole.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday April 28, at 11 a.m. at the
Guibord Funeral Home with the Rev. Joel Battaglia and Mr. John
Sleeper officiating. Burial will follow in Lyndon Center Cemetery.
Friends may call on the family prior to the start of the service beginning at 9:30 a.m.
