Barbara Virginia Prevost, (83), joined the Lord Wednesday, July 22, 2009. Born in Saint Johnsbury, Vermont Oct. 8, 1925, she was preceded by her beloved husband of 46 years, Charles W. Prevost and daughter Genie Kobarg (1948-2003). She is survived by her sister, Jeanette Albanese of White River Junction Vermont, her remaining eleven children, Joe, Anne, Peggy Kendall (Billy), John (Stephanie), Chuck, Bill (Debbie), Gloria Cheely, Carole, Francis (Paige), Christine Martinez (Jose) and Tom (Stephanie), daughter-in-law Marjorie Prevost , son-in-law Richard Kobarg, 17 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, large extended family and friends. A few years after she and Charlie were married, they packed up their 7 children and moved to West Hollywood, Fla. She and Charlie moved 3 more times, next to Waynesboro, GA, then Caldwell, Texas and finally to Austell, GA, adding more children along the way. Barbara spent her time taking care of children, gardening, sewing, and cooking. In addition to sewing clothes and darning socks, she created wonderful quilts for her family, plus more to raffle off at church bazaars. They were truly works of art. Barbara and Charlie were members of St John Vianney Catholic Church where their special ministry was helping the poor through St. Vincent DePaul. In 1993 Barbara fulfilled a lifelong dream by traveling to Rome, Italy and meeting Pope John Paul. Faithful, loving, funny, grateful, humble, patient, frugal, selfless and generous, she is already greatly missed by her family and friends who loved her and whom she loved. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The St. John Vianney Catholic Church , St. Vincent DePaul Society ; 1920 Skyview Dr.; Lithia Springs, GA 30122 or the Georgia Right to Life; P.O. Box 927; Lawrenceville, GA 30046-0927. Published in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on July 27, 2009
