Mrs. Barbara Morency of St. Johnsbury passed away peacefully at home Tuesday evening,
Feb. 26, 2013, at the age of 82.
She was born in St. Johnsbury, Vt., on April 20, 1930, the daughter of Fred W. Lewis, Sr.
and Eleanor (Morrison) Lewis. On Sept. 20, 1952, she and Bob were united in marriage.
They seemed to always be together.
Barbara graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy with the class of 1947. As a young lady she
purchased a music shop that she renamed 'Barb's Melody Shop' on Eastern Avenue which
she later moved to Railroad Street. Barb enjoyed working for Louis Bouffard at Bouffard
Insurance. She and Bob later co-owned and operated Fred W. Lewis Oil Co.
Barbara was a member of the South Congregational Church and worked for the church on
many of its endeavors. She was past president of the Searchlight ladies group.
She is survived by her devoted husband Bob Morency, their daughter Susan Legendre and
her husband Kendell of Danville; two grandchildren: Kari Byers and her husband Paul of
Charlotte, N.C., Steven Legendre of Danville. She was predeceased by her brother Fred 'Bill' Lewis, Jr.
Services will be held at the Sayles Funeral Home this Friday, March 1, at 2 p.m. The service
will be officiated by Anne Hockridge, chaplain of the Caledonia Home Health hospice. Burial
will be at a later date at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
