Barbara Ann Brewer, age 87, of 40 Avenue B, passed away at
Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving family,
on November 29, 2016. Barbara was born in St. Johnsbury, on November 18, 1929, daughter to
the late Truman and Beulah (Gregory) Brewer. She was raised and
educated in St. Johnsbury graduating from St. Johnsbury Academy in 1947.
For many years she was a chambermaid at the Holiday Inn and
then head cook at the Darling Inn until her retirement. Barbara was a
member of the Lyndonville VFW. She loved to cook and was quite good at
it. She enjoyed Bingo, traveling all over to play, and going to meal sites
especially with friends. Barbara loved taking time with her children,
grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She
loved family gatherings, family barbeques, dancing, chips and dip. She
also loved her cats and had nine at once.
She is survived by her son: Robert Dale Jenkins of St. Johnsbury; a
daughter-in-law: Donna Jenkins of St. Johnsbury; a step-daughter:
Barbara (Phillip) Nelson of St. Johnsbury; a step-son: Richard (Judy)
Fisher of St. Johnsbury; thirteen grandchildren: Kimberly Smith, Kristina
Vigeant, Larry Shumway, Justin Jenkins, Christopher Jenkins, Robyn
Noyes, Shannon French, Allison Rowell, Kevin Fisher, Melissa Sumner,
Tiffany Fisher, Lori Nelson and David Nelson; many great-grand and great-
great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews; her good Bingo
friends: Evelyn and Allen Thompson, Brenda and Jim Wheeler; her
luncheon companions: Charlotte, Lisa, Loraine; and all her friends at the meal sites.
She was predeceased by a son: Dennis K. Jenkins; a daughter: Norma
Mae Shumway; a brother: Truman Brewer; three sisters: Norma Brewer,
Marilyn Simons and Donna and Raymond Allard; and two former
husbands: Donald Jenkins and George Fisher.
Friends may call on the family from 6:00pm-8:00pm on Wednesday,
December 7, 2016 at Sayles Funeral Home, 525 Summer Street in St. Johnsbury.
Burial will be May 5, 2017, at 3:00pm at the St. Johnsbury Center
Cemetery. Friends and family are welcome to attend.
