December 27, 1923 - December 20, 2014
Allen Caldwell, of Memphis, Tennessee passed peacefully on December 20, 2014
at the age of 90. A graduate of St. Johnsbury Academy (Vermont) in 1941,
served in the U.S. Army during WWII then obtained his Bachelor's
Degree in Business Administration from the University of Maryland in 1950. He
retired from the United States Postal Service after thirty years of service as an
inspector in the Audit Division. As a follower of Jesus Christ he was a very
active former member of Galloway U.M.C. where he held many positions and is
now a current member of Colonial Park U.M.C.. Allen is a 32nd Degree Mason of
the Normal Lodge, and belonged to the United Methodist Men's group and
Toastmasters. His family will receive guests Monday from 5PM - 7PM at
Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN and again on
Tuesday, December 23 beginning at 9AM until funeral services begin at 10AM
all at Colonial Park United Methodist Church located at 5330 Park Avenue,
Memphis, TN. Mr. Caldwell was preceded in death by his parents and his five
siblings. He is survived by his wife of 69 years Dorothy M. Caldwell; daughters
Connie (Steve) McIntyre and Aline C. Thompson all of Memphis; grandchildren
Nathan (Ashley) Frazier, Ann Marie (Neal) Heaslett, Missy McIntyre, David W.
(Kristina) McKean, Jr., and J. T. Thompson; great-grandchildren Ann Louise
McKean, David W. "Tripp" McKean, III, Samuel S. McKean, Cache L. & Zoe R.
Frazier. Memorials in his name may be given to Colonial Park U.M.C. or the
organization of the donor's choice.
