W. Rose Rodger , 84, a Lyndonville resident, died Monday, Dec. 13, 2004,
at her home. Rose was born April 16, 1920, in Haverhill,
N.H., the daughter of True W. and Alice (Luce) Montgomery.
Rose was an alumni of St. Johnsbury Academy, Class of 1938,
married Robert B. Rodger, worked at Citizens Bank as a
bookkeeper for many years, was a lifelong member of the First
Congregational Church of St. Johnsbury Center, Loyal Workers at
the Church, Community Club, Rebecca's, Caledonia County
Snowmobile Club, Lyndonville Women's Club, assisted at the
Area Agency on Aging, and the V.A. Cancer Support Group and a
local cancer support group through Caledonia Home Health. Rose
was a loyal Red Sox fan. She loved snowmobiling, crafts and
NASCAR. The greatest joy in her life came from being with her
children and grandchildren. Rose is survived by three daughters,
Jacquelyn Frey of Littleton, Gail Roberts and her husband Samuel
of St. Johnsbury, and Ruth B. Stocker and her husband Dan of
Rutland; a special daughter-in-law, Elogene Rodger of Concord;
11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one
great-great-grandson; a sister, Ruth A. Brown of Lyndonville; and
many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her
husband; her parents; a son, Dana; two sisters, Celia Callender
and Helenor Hovey; and an infant brother, Winthrop. Visiting
hours will be Thursday, Dec. 16, between the hours of 6-8 p.m., at
the Pearsons Funeral Home, located at 70 Church St.,
Lyndonville. A funeral service will follow on Friday, Dec. 17, at 2
p.m., at the First Congregational Church of St. Johnsbury Center.
Interment will be in the spring at the St. Johnsbury Center
Cemetery. The family requests that because of the winter months,
in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made in Rose's name
to either the Caledonia Home Health, P.O. Box 383, St.
Johnsbury, VT 05819; or to the Rose and Robert Rodger
Memorial Trust Fund, in care of Shirley Goss, Paradise Lakes,
1571 Doyle Road, No. 80, Deltona, FL 32725.
