Veronica B. Sumner , 86, of Burlington, died on Friday, March 16, 2007, at
the Ethan Allen Residence following a brief illness. She was born in
Swanton on June 12, 1920, the daughter of the late Charles and Dorothy
(L'ecuyer) Delaney. Veronica was married in 1936 to Charles E. Sumner.
He predeceased her in 1995. She was a member of Holy Cross Parish.
She was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by her six children, Shirley Hammond and her husband,
William of Burlington, Charles and his wife, Gale of Longmont, Colo.,
Kathryn Stewart of Charlotte, N.C., Stephen and his wife Margaret of
Burlington, Michael of North Concord, and Thomas and his partner, John
Beking of Westbrook, Maine; 30 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; a
brother-in-law, Milton Montgomery; two sisters-in-law, Jean Sumner and
Carolyn Delaney; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased
by her brothers and sisters, Bernadette, Kathleen, George, Charles and
Constance. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Father
Roger Charbonneau, Father Daniel White, Sister Marie Feely and to Dr.
Frank Landry and his staff for their loving care and concern during
Veronica's final days. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on
Monday, March 19, 2007, at 10 a.m. in Holy Cross Roman Catholic
Church, Colchester. Burial followed in Holy Cross Cemetery, St. Albans.
