Theodora Eudavilla Laughlin Callanan , a lifelong resident of St.
Johnsbury, Vt., passed on to the next life on May 29, 2007, with the same
grace and poise she showed in life. She was predeceased by her husband,
Joseph F. Callanan on Dec. 22, 1980. Born in St. Johnsbury on Sept. 27,
1920, she is survived by her four loving children, Michael John Callanan of
Hanover, N.H., Carol Ann Callanan of St. Johnsbury, Debra Sue Clark and
Nancy Jo Bourbon of Essex Junction, Vt. She is further survived by her
sons-in-law, Eric Clark and John Bourbon; and her grandchildren
Christopher Tetreault, Mary Tryhorne and her husband Matt, and Tucker
and Sara Bourbon; and a great-grandchild, Javon Tetreault. Theodora,
known as Tedo by her friends and family, greatly enjoyed nature and all of
God's glory. Some of her fondest memories were of walking Barnet
Mountain as a young girl and admiring the trailing arbutus, chokeberries,
trillium, lady slippers, and partridge berries. As her children grew, their
fondest memories were of the annual vacation spent at Harvey's Lake.
There, she enjoyed simple activities like walking to the store, doing the
sidestroke and playing cards after dark. Tedo was an avid bowler, winning
many trophies with her bowling league. She attended Baypath College in
Massachusetts before starting her family. She worked at Centers, W.T.
Grant Company, Fishmans, Rinney's Boutique, and Sunshine Boutique.
Tedo especially was a great salesperson and really enjoyed stacking the
toy department for Christmas. Her children will always remember her
making lemon sherbet, potato salad, Yankee pot roast, meatloaf, and
mincemeat pie. Services will be held at the Sayles Funeral Home this
Sunday, June 3, 2007, at 2 p.m. Visiting hours will be at the funeral home
on Saturday from 4 until 6 p.m. Memorial contributions could be directed to
Kingdom Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 460, St. Johnsbury, VT 05819.
