Shirley E. Peters , 85, passed away at The Pines in Lyndon early
Wednesday, June 7, 2006. She was born in Amherst, Mass., on July 26,
1920, the daughter of Allen and Hazel (Antel) Knight. She was the widow of
Adelbert "Pete" Peters, who passed away Aug. 6, 1993. She is survived by
four children, Richard Peters and his wife Wanda of Groton, Wayne Peters
and his wife Sharon of St. Johnsbury, Sherry Hevey and her husband Paul
of Las Vegas, Nev., Joan Gammell and her husband Ken of Newark; eight
grandchildren, Kathy Gilman, Lisa Bradley, Peggy Gilman, Stephanie
Schartner, Toby Peters, Scott Peters, Kelly Brown and Julie Oliver; 20
great-grandchildren; one sister, Beverly Knight of New Hampshire; and
brother-in-law Ralph Peters of St. Johnsbury Health & Rehab Center. She
was predeceased by a grandson, Michael Hevey, and by a sister, Mona
French. Graveside services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Mt.
Pleasant Cemetery. Anyone wishing to attend is welcome. There will be no
visiting hours. Memorial contributions may be directed to the St. Johnsbury
