BEDARD: Roger I. , 89, of St. Johnsbury, passed away Friday, Nov. 8, 2002 after a brief illness. He was a longtime resident of No. 32 Colonial Apartments. He was born in St. Johnsbury, Feb. 11, 1913, one of seven children born to Eugene and Anna (LaChance) Bedard. Roger was a retired insurance agent, principally for Allstate, St. Jean de Baptiste, and Prudential. He served in the U.S. Navy during world War II. Roger was a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Church. He was a 70-year member and past grand knight of Sheridan Council 421 Knights of Columbus. He will be remembered for his love of the Yankees, the Canadiens, and his passion for selling raffle tickets for church endeavors, the VFW, the Legion and the Elks clubs, to which he belonged. Roger and wife Genevieve (Legendre) had been married for 63 years. Genevieve is now residing at The Pines Rehabilitation and Health Center, 601 Red Village Road, Lyndon, VT 05851. He is also survived by five children, Renette Bedard of Woodstock, Maurice Bedard and wife Lucille of St. Johnsbury, Marguerite Blodgett and husband Dale of Danville, Peter Bedard and wife Laurie of St. Johnsbury, and Michael Bedard and wife Susan of Dummerston; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Louis-Paul Bedard and wife Bette of Torrance, Calif.; one sister-in-law, Yvonne Bedard of St. Johnsbury; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by three sisters, Sr. Juliette Bedard, Bertha Gauthier, and Yvonne Choiniere; and two brothers, Firmin and Robert. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 11 a.m., at St. John the Evangelist Church. Committal services will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held at the Sayles Funeral Home, today, from 5 to 8 p.m. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home at 7:45 p.m. this evening, followed by the Rosary.
