SNOW: Rita Coombs , 86, of 82 Hill St., St. Johnsbury, died peacefully at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H., Friday, Oct. 4, 2002, after a long illness. She was born Feb. 16, 1916, and grew up in St. Johnsbury. She was the daughter of the late William and Susan (Morey) Coombs. She graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy. She also lived in Mount Hermon, Mass., and Danvers, Mass., and later made her home again in St. Johnsbury. She was a member of the North Congregational Church, the Eastern Star, United Workers and the Women's Club. She was predeceased by her husband, Harry Whittier Snow; her son, Harry Whittier Snow Jr.; her sisters, Kathleen Coombs and Mary Coombs; her half sister, Hazel Coombs; and two half brothers, Howard and Malcolm Coombs. She is survived by her children, William and Margaret Snow of Dundee, Ore., Sandra J. Snow of Arlington, Mass., and Susan E. and Peter Blankenship of Carlisle, Mass.; two grandchildren, Kimberly and Angela; three great-grandchildren; and Donald and Dorothy Coombs of St. Johnsbury, Lorraine and Richard Laurin of Star Lake, N.Y., Irving and Elizabeth Morey of Lakeland, Fla., and Jean and Walter Moore of Dalton, N.H. Services will be held at the North Congregational Church in St. Johnsbury, Wednesday, Oct. 9, at 2:30 p.m., with the Rev. Jay Sprout officiating. Burial will be in the Walnut Grove Cemetery in Danvers, Mass. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in her memory to the nursing staff of the Oncology Infusion Unit at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, 1 Medical Center Drive, Lebanon, NH 03756, or to the nursing staff of the Oncology Infusion Unit at the Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital, Hospital Drive, St. Johnsbury, VT 05819.
