Priscilla Lord Thompson, 91, of Danville, passed away Sunday,
April 22, 2012, at the residence of her granddaughter and her
husband in Delaware where she had been staying for the past
three years. She was born Oct. 2, 1920, in St. Johnsbury, the daughter of Ralph
and Myra (Walker) Lord. On May 22, 1948, she married Claude E. Thompson of Hardwick, Vt.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Danville for
many years where she taught Sunday School and volunteered for
various church functions. She was member of Eastern Star and
after graduating from St. Johnsbury Academy in 1939 she worked
for Fairbanks Morse and later The Caledonian National Bank in
Danville. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, spending the
summers on Ewells Pond and volunteering at The Open Door and NVRH.
Survivors include two children: Claudia Cochran of Williamsburg,
Va., and Deborah Kimball of Littleton, N.H. Her granddaughter,
Rebecca Matysiak (Kimball) of Delaware and three
great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Lukas and Natalia. She was
predeceased by her parents, her husband Claude in 1987, and
her beloved son Christopher in 1975.
Burial will be at The Danville Green Cemetery this summer. A
notice will be given at a later date. A special thanks to Sandy and
Alan Towle of Danville, many Danville Friends, and Delaware
Hospice who assisted Rob and Rebecca in her final months.
