Patricia (Rattigan) Packer , 88, of St. Johnsbury, passed away
Saturday, May 8, 2010. She was born May 21, 1921, in St.
Johnsbury, the daughter of Charles L. and Mae (Lacasse)
Rattigan. She graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy in 1939.
Pat had a 40-year career with Farmers Home Administration and
was originally appointed by Pres. Franklin D. Roosevelt; she
retired in May 1981. Her last position was administrative officer
with the Montpelier office. Over the years Pat received a superior
performance award and was cited for five performance
suggestion awards. She served on two national task forces in
Washington, D.C. On Sept. 15, 1979, she married Robert Packer.
They were longtime St. Johnsbury residents of Mt. Pleasant
Street; Bob predeceased her Aug. 29, 2007. Pat had a deep love
for The South Congregational Church; she joined the church in
1934 and was a pianist and past deacon. She is survived by a
daughter Michele "Mickey" Howarth and husband Dave of
Tunkhannock, Pa.; two grandchildren and five
great-grandchildren: Christine Lemanowicz husband Mike and
their two sons Michael and Ryan; Cheryl Pierson and her children
Briana, Renee, and Calvin; step-son Michael Packer of St.
Johnsbury and his six children Jacob, Alina, Michael, Luke, Levi,
and Jacqueline; in-laws Richard Packer and wife Carol of Nassau,
N.Y., Virginia Doble of Gorham, N.H., Phyllis McNeil of
Portsmouth, N.H. Funeral services will be held at the South
Congregational Church tomorrow, Tuesday, May 11 at 3:30 p.m.
with the pastor, the Rev. William Schutter, Ph.D., officiating. Burial
will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Memorial contributions could
