Margaret (Beck) Hayes , 97, of St. Johnsbury, passed away Sunday morning, May 3, 2009, at the St. Johnsbury Health & Rehab Center where she had resided for the past several years. Margaret was born in St. Johnsbury on April 9, 1912, one of nine children born to Ernest and Rennie (Nourse) Beck. Her husband, George F. Hayes, predeceased her in 1965. She had worked as a chambermaid at the Yankee Traveler Motel for 35 years. She is survived by her son James and his wife Earlene of Danville (931 McReynolds Road, 05828); grandson Michael Hayes of St. Johnsbury; great-grandson Ryan Hayes of Springhill, Fla.; brother Sidney Beck of North Concord; and nieces and nephews. Friends and family will gather at the Sayles Funeral Home on Wednesday from 1-2 p.m. Graveside services will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery at approximately 2:15 p.m. Mr. John Sleeper will officiate.
