Luella Sanborn Kirker, of Danville, passed away Monday, July 13, 2009. She had resided at the
Greensboro Nursing Home for the past 10 years. She was born in St. Johnsbury on March 14, 1918,
and was the only child of Arthur and Addie Sanborn. She did, however, come to have a
sister, Alice Sanborn, who was welcomed into the Sanborn family at about the age of six. She
was predeceased by Alice, her son David in 1997 and grandson Dickie Vance in 1983. Luella
worked at The Pope Library where she became a certified librarian. She retired from The
Caledonia National Bank in 1982 where she worked for 18 years as a proof reader. Luella was a
private caregiver for many elderly people in the Danville/St. Johnsbury area. She had the
opportunity to visit all 50 states, most of the Canadian provinces, and several of the European
countries. She always made it a point to have family gatherings. Luella was a vibrant person
who loved all kinds of dancing. She also loved to read. She is survived by three children Ann
Vance and husband Richard of North Danville, Charles Kirker and wife Coral of Milton, and
Sharon Daniell and husband Gary of Danville; daughter-in-law Linda Kirker of Georgia, Vt.;
former daughter-in-laws Susan and Sherry; 13 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at the Danville Green Cemetery Friday, July 17, at 11 a.m. The
Rev. Douglas Carter will officiate. A reception will follow downstairs at the Danville
Congregational Church. In recognition of the fine care she received at the Greensboro Nursing
