Loretta B. Lewis , longtime St. Johnsbury resident and business owner, died Friday, Oct. 28, 2005, at St. Johnsbury Health and Rehab Center at the age of 90. She was born in North Concord, Vt., May 16, 1915, the daughter of Victor and Adla (Levaggi) Bona. A graduate of St. Johnsbury Academy, she had started working for her uncle, Louis Bona, while attending the Academy. In 1945, she and her husband, Harry L. Lewis, purchased the St. Johnsbury Fruit Company, and in 1971, she started the Hilltopper Restaurant, which she ran tirelessly for 34 years. Her restaurant became a landmark on Main Street, known throughout by residents and tourists for food and fellowship. Survivors include two sons, Victor Lewis, and Steven and his wife Diane Lewis, both of St. Johnsbury; brother, Fred and his wife Barbara Bona of Lyndonville; sister, Josephine Swartz of Hollywood, Fla.; grandchildren, Shane Lewis, Danielle Nitche, Christopher Lewis and Jennifer Lewis; great-grandchildren, Aidan and Maren Nitche; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Harry L. Lewis, in 1971; and two brothers. Services will be held at St. John the Evangelist Church on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2005, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Mt.
