Jeanette Wheelock of West Burke passed away Sunday, March 23, 2008,
at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital. She was
born in St. Johnsbury April 27, 1920, to James L. and Nina
(Chandler) Greenwood and was a graduate of St. Johnsbury
Academy class of 1938. On June 14, 1939, she married Edelbert
Wheelock; he predeceased her April 13, 1986. On Dec. 6, 1997,
she married Clifford T. Greenwood; he predeceased her Jan. 1,
2004. While living in Portland, Maine, during World War II, she
was an underwriter for the Prudential Insurance Co. After moving
back to St. Johnsbury, she worked at the St. Johnsbury Glovers
until moving to Burke Hollow. She had worked at Russell's Drug
Store for 11 years. In retirement she was a volunteer at the
Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital where she enjoyed
working at the Cherry Wheel Gift Shop. Survivors include her son
Edward Wheelock and his wife Carol of Gilman; her
step-daughter Pauline St. Hilaire of St. Johnsbury; step-son Paul
Greenwood and wife Cynthia of Flagstaff, Ariz.; her brother
Clifford R. Greenwood and his companion Virginia Mumford of St.
Johnsbury; six grandchildren: Mike, Martha, and Dawn; Tina,
Tammy, and Karen; nine great-grandchildren: four
step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; several nieces,
nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her daughter
Carol Carr; two sisters: Frances Greenwood and Jean Manson;
three brothers: James, Charles and Duane; two grandchildren:
Cathy Jean Knight and Everett Wheelock. A Mass of Christian
Burial will be celebrated in Lyndonville Thursday at 11 a.m. at St.
Elizabeth Church. The Rev. Patrick Forman will be the celebrant.
Burial will be in May at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in St.
Johnsbury. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home
Wednesday evening 6-8 p.m. Memorial contributions could be
