James A. Greenwood of St. Johnsbury, Vt., passed away Thursday
afternoon, June 28, 2007, at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital in St.
Johnsbury at the age of 86. He passed away peacefully with his wife at his
side. He was born in St. Johnsbury on July 10, 1920, the son of James A.
and Hazel (Wedge) Greenwood. James was raised on Bible Hill in St.
Johnsbury. On July 22, 1944, he married the love of his life, Elaine Scott. In
1941, Jim took over a farm from his grandparents where Weidmann
Systems International is located now and worked that until the property was
sold in 1963. Jim then went to work at Vermont Tap & Die until he retired in 1983.
In 1985, Jim and Elaine returned to Bible Hill, living in a home they
built on land originally owned by his parents. Jim is survived by his wife of 63 years,
Elaine (1059 Bible Hill Road); his daughter, MaryLou Greenwood
of St. Johnsbury; a son, David Greenwood and his wife Cathe of St.
Johnsbury; his sister-in-law, Kay Scott of St. Johnsbury; and a cousin,
Francis Wedge of Downington, Penn. He was "Papa" to four grandchildren
whom he loved very much: Heidi Sessions of St. Johnsbury, Megan Harvey
and her husband William of Fort Knox, Ky., David Greenwood II and his
wife Jennifer of St. Johnsbury and Cami Greenwood of St. Johnsbury. He
was "Old Papa" to three great-grandchildren, who would light up his face
when he saw them: William Z. and Rileigh Harvey of Fort Knox, Ky., and
Kelsey Greenwood of St. Johnsbury. At the request of the family there will
be no calling hours. Graveside services will be held Monday, July 2 at 11
a.m. at the St. Johnsbury Center Cemetery with Mr. John Sleeper
