HUGHES: Hazel Louise (Moffett) , 85, of Dracut, Mass., died Friday, May 14, 2004,
at Saints Memorial Medical Center, Lowell. She was the wife of
the late Arthur A. Hughes, who died July 2, 1993. Born in St. Johnsbury,
Vt., May 22, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Perley and Stella
(Ranney) Moffett. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a
seamstress for Hathaway Shirt and Lowell Dress Co. Mrs. Hughes was a
very active member of Collinsville Bible Church in Dracut and a former
church Sunday school teacher and a member of Dracut Senior Citizens.
Surviving her are two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Mary) Johnson, of Pelham,
N.H., and Nancy Rayne, of Westford; 10 grandchildren; several
great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Walter Lafortune, of Kittery, Maine; one
brother, Wayne Moffett, of South Carolina; two sisters-in-law, Beverly
Moffett, of St. Johnsbury, and Mabel Moffett, of Concord, N.H.; and several
nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Doris Lafortune
and the sister of the late Harold Moffett and Arthur Moffett. Friends are
invited to her funeral service on Tuesday, May 18, at 10 a.m., in Collinsville
Bible Church, Dracut. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in St.
Johnsbury, Vt. at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make
memorial contributions in her memory to Missionary Fund, in care of
Collinsville Bible Church, 2075 Lakeview Avenue, Dracut, MA 01826.
