Gordon Russell, 94, of Barnet, died on Aug. 20, 2008, at his home on Anderson Street. Gordon was born on July 31, 1914, in Barnet, to Jesse and Lena (LaBelle) Russell. He worked as a stone mason with his father and then was employed as a machinist at Fairbanks Scales in St. Johnsbury, until he retired at age 65. Gordon was a member of the BPOE Lodge #1343 in St. Johnsbury for 63 years. He served as past Exalted Ruler, chaplain, All State and All New England. When employed at Fairbanks, he was a member of the union. Gordon was predeceased by his wife, Nancie (Orr) Russell on Nov. 26, 1983. He is survived by his sister, Pearl Robinson of North Haverhill, N.H. There will be no calling hours. An Elks service will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008, at 1 p.m., at Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, N.H. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery, Barnet. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Silver Towers Camp, PO Box 166, Ripton, VT 05766. Ricker Funeral Home, Woodsville, is in charge of arrangements.
