MEYERS, Germaine Germaine Meyers, 92, died peacefully surrounded by her four daughters on Tuesday, (February 26, 2008) at Seabury Retirement Community in Bloomfield, where she had made her home for the past thirteen years. She was born to Anna and Eli DesTroisMaisons on May 7, l915, in St. Johnsbury, VT; she was predeceased by her four siblings. She was a graduate of St. Johnsbury Academy. Her husband of 44 years, Hartford native Bennett Meyers, predeceased her in l985. Together they raised four daughters: Lesley Meyers of Bloomfield, Shelley Meyers of West Hartford, Alison Meyers of Jersey City, NJ, and Hilary Meyers of West Hartford. Germaine was a devoted full-time wife and mother, making warm and loving homes at various New England college preparatory schools where her husband taught: Mount Hermon School, Northfield, MA; Kents Hill School, Kents Hill, ME; and The Loomis Chaffee School, Windsor, 1966-81, where she worked part-time in the library. With her husband, she was a beloved member of the Camp Winnebago community in Maine for many summers. She was an energetic person who enjoyed gardening, nature, reading, writing and long, brisk walks. She was an avid Red Sox and Celtics fan. In addition to her daughters, she is survived by sons-in-law, Stephen Ohki, William Sledge, Jr. and Harry Weinerman; grandchildren Adam Meyers-Spector and wife Francesca Cecchi, Leah Meyers-Spector and husband Joshua Fein, Sarah and Alison Meyers-Ohki, Rachel and Aaron Meyers-Weinerman and Bennett Meyers Weinerman; and great granddaughters Gaia and Sasha Meyers-Spector.
