Francis J. Begbie, of the Colonial Apartments in St. Johnsbury,
Vt., passed away Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007, at the V.A. Hospital
in White River Junction, Vt., at the age of 90. He was born in
Montreal, Canada, Jan. 10, 1917, the son of M. Charles and
Frieda (Bilodeau) Begbie. His wife was the late Emma Berry
Begbie. She passed away in June of 2007. Francis graduated
from St. Johnsbury Academy in 1936. He worked for First
National Stores for 32 years and retired as district manager. He
was an U.S. Army veteran of World War II and saw action during
the European invasion at Omaha Beach. He is survived by a
daughter, Elaine Staples of Hartland, Vt., and one granddaughter,
Robynn Hinkle. There will be no calling hours. There will be a
graveside service in spring 2008 at the Veterans Cemetery in Randolph.
