Eleanor Roy , of St. Johnsbury, formerly of Barnet, died
peacefully Tuesday morning, Jan. 9, 2007, at Northeastern
Vermont Regional Hospital at the age of 88. She was born in St.
Johnsbury on Oct. 5, 1919, one of three children born to O. Dean
and Jennie (Cassidy) Hale. A 1937 graduate of St. Johnsbury
Academy, she graduated from Brightlook Nursing School. She
considered her nursing work at Maxwell Field AFB in Alabama
during World War II to be one of the high points of her life.
Eleanor did a lot of private duty care for area families, many with
whom she struck a lifelong friendship. She also was a registered
nurse at Brightlook Hospital. For the past year and a half,
Marcelle and Roaul Houde made Eleanor part of their family and
provided her with wonderful care. For this her family will always
be deeply grateful. She was predeceased by two husbands, Fred
G. Connor in 1972, and Ralph Roy in 1985. She is survived by
two daughters, JoAnn Connor and Tony Albano and her son Josh
Medlock of San Marcos, Texas (125 W. Holland Road, 78666),
and Debra Connor and her husband Ross Brown of Pflugerville,
Texas, and her son Brian Kremer; her brother, John Hale and his
wife Jeannene of Barnet; her sister-in-law, Jeanne Hale of St.
Johnsbury; and five nephews. Her brother, Richard Hale, passed
away this past April 19. A funeral Mass will be celebrated
Thursday, Jan 11, at 11 a.m., at St. John the Evangelist Church.
Burial will be at a later date beside her husband Fred at St. Mary's
Cemetery in Newport. There will be no visiting hours. Memorial
