BROOKS: Angus McLeod , 91, in Barre, Vt., died Sunday, Aug. 29, 2004. He was formerly of Concord, N.H.,
and New London, N.H. He was the devoted husband of the late Kathleen (Twombly) Brooks.
He was a graduate of St. Johnsbury Academy, Middlebury College, and the University of Rochester (N.Y.) Medical School.
Dr. Brooks had a long and distinguished career as an anesthesiologist, practicing primarily at the Concord Hospital, Concord, N.H.
He had a sincere interest in people, and an intense intellectual curiosity. He will be remembered as a true humanitarian, and a man who lived to learn.
He was also an avid outdoorsman and athlete - purchasing his last bicycle at age 87! In 2003, Dr. Brooks was named the Vermont Elder of the Year for his volunteer work. Active participation in community churches was central to his life. He leaves his children, Nancy Brooks Richardson and her husband David, Meg Brooks Kuhner, and David A. Brooks and his wife Lisa; eight grandchildren, Megan, Susanna, Beth, Abigael, Emily, Sam, Whitney and Stacey; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary McLeod Brooks; and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Social Services Fund at the Berlin Health and Rehabilitation Center, Berlin, VT 05602; or to Middlebury College Class of 1936 Fund, Middlebury, VT 05753. A memorial service will be held Friday, Sept. 10, at 11 a.m. at the South Congregational Church, Pleasant Street, Concord, N.H.
