Dorothy Delight Tann Wing , of Littleton, N.H., entered Life
Eternal on Oct. 25, 2008. She was a life-long resident of the North
Country, living for over 65 years in Littleton. "Dot" Wing was born
on June 26, 1920, in St. Johnsbury, Vt., to John William and
Hazel Taylor Tann. She graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy,
class of 1938. Dot had several careers, first and foremost as a
homemaker and loving mother of her children and doting
grandmother and great-grandmother. She also worked as a
telephone operator for New England Telephone & Telegraph
Company, as a retail sales clerk for Stod Nichols Mens Wear and
Aubuchon Hardware, and as a childcare provider. On June 23,
1946, she was married in Littleton to Walter E. Wing. He
predeceased her in June of 1984. Dot was also predeceased by
her three brothers John William Tann II, J. Richard Tann and Paul
T. Tann. She is survived by her three children Stephen John Wing
and wife Carol of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Delight Ann Wing and
husband John Long of Jericho, Vt., and Michael John Wing and
wife Kimberlee of Yarmouth, Maine; six grandchildren, Blair,
Duncan, Kirsten, Taylor, Webb and Jenny; and four
great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Michael, Elizabeth and Lucia. She
was a volunteer at Littleton Hospital and an active member of the
First United Methodist Church of Littleton. Dot enjoyed drives on
the country roads of Grafton County and trips to the Maine coast.
Her greatest love was children. She was happiest when she was
entertaining her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, serving at
a daycare facility, or dispensing advice and counsel to young
gentlemen from her post at Stod Nichols store on Main Street.
She spent hours watching children play from her home across
from Remich Park. At the family's request, all services will be
private. Those persons wishing to remember Dot are invited to
make a contribution to the First United Methodist Church, 18 Main St., Littleton, NH 03561.
