JENKS: Charles Robert , 82, of St. Johnsbury, died at home early
Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2003. He was born in St. Johnsbury, Oct. 31,
1920, the son of Zenas and Gladys (Johnston) Jenks. Charles
was a 1938 graduate of St. Johnsbury Academy. He served his
country during World War II in the U.S. Army Air Corps working in
aerial photography. He was active in the North Congregational
Church UCC (deacon emeritus), St. Johnsbury Rotary Club (past
president), VFW (past commander), and the American Legion. In
1986, he retired as the third generation of the Jenks Studio of
Photography in St. Johnsbury, which is the oldest family run
photography business in the United States. He was a member
and past president of VT Professional Photographers. Charles
loved to go camping with his family, especially at Ricker Pond in
Groton State Forest. On Oct. 15, 1955, he married Anne (Leclerc)
Jenks, who survives him in St. Johnsbury. Other survivors include
three sons, Mark Jenks of Pittsford, Vt., Steven and wife Valerie
Jenks of Saranac Lake, N.Y., and Robert "Bob" Jenks of
Waterford; a daughter, Phyllis and husband Alexander Grech III of
Pond Eddy, N.Y.; and 10 grandchildren, Shawnna, Tyler,
Brenden, Luke, Amelia, Lauren, Kiel, Elizabeth, Julianne and
Alexander IV. There will be no visiting hours. Memorial services
will be held at North Congregational Church UCC, Friday, Sept.
26, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Jay Sprout officiating. Burial will be at
the convenience of the family. Contributions in his memory may
