Mrs. Beverly Guyer, longtime St. Johnsbury Center resident, passed away
Friday morning, Jan. 3, 2014, at the age of 93. She had resided at the
Vernon Hall complex in Vernon, Vermont for the past five years.
She was born March 1, 1920, in Lyndon, Vt., the daughter of Curtis and
Mona (Richardson) Bradley. Her husband was Ernest D. Guyer who
predeceased her on Jan. 28, 1978. She was also predeceased by her two
brothers, Erton Bradley and Leighton 'Pat' Bradley.
Beverly graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy with the class of 1938. For
years she made her home on Sanger Circle with her son and
daughter-in-law, Ernie and Linda Guyer. She was a parishioner of St. John
the Evangelist Church and enjoyed time spent with the St. Johnsbury Center Community Club.
Beverly began her married life with Ernest during WWII; she followed him
to Taunton, Mass., where their first child, Ernest 'Sarge', was born. After
the war they returned to St. Johnsbury and resided on Duke Street where
two daughters, Kathleen and Marie, were added to the family.
Fulfilling her husband's dream, the Guyer family moved to Waterford above
Passumpsic village where they raised their family on a small working dairy
farm. Several years after her husband's death, Bev moved to St. Johnsbury
Center to be closer to her son.
She is survived by her son Ernest Guyer and his wife Linda of St.
Johnsbury Center; two daughters: Kathleen Sparrow and her husband
Perley of Vernon, Vt., and Marie Maurice and her husband Gary of Stone
Mountain, Ga.; four grandchildren: Tammy Christianson of Orlando, Fla.,
Jenifer Puffer and husband Eric of Hinsdale, N.H., Joshua Maurice and
wife Terri of Atlanta, Ga., and Danielle Maurice Sanders and her husband
Kevin of Atlanta, Ga.; three great-grandchildren: Sunny Christiansen, and
Kal and Brit Maurice; two step-grandchildren: Patti Willey and husband
Mike, Pam Jones all of St. Johnsbury Center; as well as nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Johnsbury on Friday, April 25, at 11
a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church. Committal services will follow at the
Lyndon Center Cemetery. There will be no visiting ours.
