PIPER: Arlene Morse, 85, a resident of Mashpee, Mass., since 1980,
died Friday, Sept. 13, 2002, at the Royal Megansett
Nursing Home under the services of Hospice, after a short illness.
She was the wife of Harold (James) Piper, who died in 1998, for
over 60 years. Mrs. Piper was born and educated in St.
Johnsbury, and graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy. She
worked in sales for W.T. Grant Co. until her retirement. After
retirement she very much enjoyed being a homemaker and
spoiling her cat "Tom." She was a loving mother, feisty and
independent, with a great sense of humor. Surviving are two
daughters, Joanne "Jodie" Fettig of Cotuit, Mass., and Gayle
Harte of Lansing, Mich.; a sister, Margaret Astles of Summerville,
S.C.; seven grandchildren; and two dear friends, Mary Burgess of
Maynard, Mass., and Helen Roy of Monroe, N.H. A private
graveside service will be held.
