Alfretta L. (Priest) Eastman , 86, of 210 Cabot St., Portsmouth,
N.H., died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005, at the Portsmouth Regional
Hospital. She was born in Littleton, N.H., on March 3, 1918, the
daughter of the late Freeman J. Priest and Lois (Sunbury) Priest
Choquette. Mrs. Eastman graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy
in St. Johnsbury, Vt., Class of 1935, and the Katharine Gibbs
Secretarial School in Providence, R.I., Class of 1937. On May 15, 1942,
she married Sidney T. Eastman. She was employed for the
Vermont State Employment Service in St. Johnsbury from 1937-1938;
Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in St. Johnsbury, Portsmouth, N.H.,
and Dover, N.H., from 1938-1978,
retiring as office manager from the Dover District office. Mrs.
Eastman was then employed for Sentry Systems, Inc., in
Portsmouth, N.H., where she worked from 1978-2000. Mrs.
Eastman was predeceased by her husband on Dec. 15, 1979.
Survivors include her dear friends, Claire Thomas of Portsmouth,
Armond and Virginia Legare of Stratham, and Oletha Barton of
Portsmouth; and many other friends old and new. Funeral
services will be held at the J. Verne Wood Funeral
Home-Buckminster Chapel, 84 Broad St., Portsmouth, N.H.,
Thursday, Feb. 3, at 3 p.m., with visitation two hours prior, from 1-3 p.m.
Flowers are acceptable from friends, or if desired,
