GADAPEE: Nellie (Cushman) , 93, of South Windsor, Conn., died Jan. 24, 2004, at home with her family by her side. She was born in East St. Johnsbury, Vt., Dec. 14, 1910, the daughter of Edgar and Abbe Cushman. She married Kenneth Gadapee, Aug. 31, 1934. Nellie worked as a telephone operator and at the Maple Grove Museum. She was a member of the South Congregational Church of St. Johnsbury. Nellie loved flowers and gardening, and she truly enjoyed feeding the birds. She is survived by her daughter, Virginia and her husband John Dzen of South Windsor; grandson, John Jr. and wife Jennifer Dzen of South Windsor; three great-grandchildren, Daniel, Megan and Adam Dzen; two sisters, Mary Spencer of Lyndonville, Vt., and Mabel Fissette of East St. Johnsbury; and several nieces and nephews. Her husband, Kenneth, predeceased Nellie Aug. 24, 1995. The memorial service will be Friday, April 30, at 2 p.m. at the South Congregational Church, St. Johnsbury, with the Rev. Steven Winkler officiating. There are no calling hours. Committal services will be private at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, St. Johnsbury. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Caledonia Home Health, Sherman Drive, St. Johnsbury, VT 05819; or to North Central Hospice, 8 Keynote Drive, Vernon, CT 06066.
