Madeline (Olliver) Eastman , 97, of Woodsville, N.H., died Jan. 11, 2008, at the Grafton County Nursing Home in North Haverhill, N.H. She was born in Barre, Vt., Sept. 20, 1910, a daughter of William John and Nellie Bernice (Kenerson) Olliver. A graduate of St. Johnsbury Academy, Mrs. Eastman has been a longtime area resident living most of her life in the Groton, Wells River, and Woodsville areas. She retired in 1974 from Cottage Hospital where she had been a bookkeeper. She was a member and former trustee of the Wells River Congregational Church, and also a member and former treasurer of the Women's Fellowship. Mrs. Eastman was a member and past worthy matron of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed crafts, music, reading and enjoyed her family, especially spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Seth Newton Eastman on Nov. 6, 1975; a sister, Mary Elizabeth Olliver; two brothers, Charles Wyness Olliver and George Edmund Olliver. Survivors include her son, Alan S. Eastman and wife Diedra of Fairlee, Vt.; two grandchildren, Trudy Lewis and Aaron Eastman; two great-grandchildren, Jasmine Eastman and Gavin Lewis; and several nieces and nephews. A calling hour will be on Tuesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch St., Woodsville, N.H. Funeral services will be on Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the Wells River Congregational Church, with the Rev. Betty Ann Abild officiating. Spring burial will be in Groton Village Cemetery.
