FISKE: Edith May Ranney (Gage) , of Pillsbury Manor North, South Burlington, passed away Saturday, June 16, 2001. The youngest of three daughters born to Eugene S. and Evalyn (Bowen) Ranney, Edith was born Sept. 15, 1901 in Lyndon and lived there until the death of her father in 1907, at which time the family moved to East St. Johnsbury. She attended the local school and graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy with the class of 1920. Between 1920 and 1938 she held positions with the Caledonia National Bank of Danville, Keene National Bank in Keene, N.H., and the Passumpsic Bank in St. Johnsbury. In November 1938 she was married to William Allen Gage, D.C. After earning her certificate in physical therapy and radionics from Metropolitan College she assisted in her husband's practice for nearly 20 years. Dr. Gage passed away in 1955. Edith was a member of the South Congregational Church in St. Johnsbury for over 50 years, and during the time she was living in St. Johnsbury was very active in church work and other activities in the community. In December 1958 she was married to Fred C. Fiske. They lived in South Burlington and later Butlers Corner in Essex Junction. Mr. Fiske passed away in 1971. Affectionately known as "Aunt Edie" by many relatives and friends, she was always busy. Her hobbies included stamp collecting, genealogy, sewing and crocheting, and growing African violets. While living in Essex Junction she volunteered for FISH for over 15 years. She is survived by a niece, Geraldine and her husband Rodney Lyman of Franklin, Vt., and Winter Haven, Fla.; a nephew, Leslie E. Parker Sr. of Portland, Ore.; grandnephews Terry Roy and his wife Susan, and Leslie Parker Jr. and his wife Sherry; great-grand-nieces Jessica Heath and Kailey Roy and nephew Jordan Roy; a stepdaughter, Miriam Fiske Hawkins and husband Elliott of Springfield, Vt. and their children, Richard Hawkins and his wife Marcia of Colchester and Barbara Collins and her husband Thomas of Miami Beach, Fla.; step-great-grandson Kenneth Hawkins and wife Rachel of Vergennes; step-granddaughters Dorcas and husband Carl Wright of Brookfield, Vt., Deborah and husband A. Roy MacAskill of Brookfield, and Celeste and husband Herbert Eselgroth of Rochester, N.Y.; and step-grandson Clayton Allen Gage and wife Lynn of South Barre, and their families.
