DUKE: Doria F. (Pilotte) , 92, formerly of Lyndon Corner, died Thursday morning, Aug. 21, 2003, at the Carriage Inn Nursing Home in Dayton, Ohio. She was born July 11, 1911, in Whitefield, N.H., the daughter of Frank and Melina (Fournier) Pilotte. She was a graduate of St. Johnsbury Academy, Class of 1930. Mrs. Duke worked as a telephone operator for AT & T for 21 years. She will be remembered for her large tulip garden, and she sold tulips from her home in Lyndon Corner. She was a member of the Lyndonville Womens Club, Telephone Pioneers of America, and a longtime member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Lyndonville. In 1999 she moved to Ohio to live with her son George. After being stricken by illness in 2000, she resided at the nursing home in Dayton. She is survived by her only son, George F. Duke and wife Susan of Englewood, Ohio; two grandchildren, Christopher Duke and Nicole Lawson; and four great-grandchildren, Brook and Katie Duke, and Baylee and Drake Lawson. She was predeceased by her husband, Floyd Frank Duke, in 1967; two brothers, Russell and George Pilotte; and three sisters-in-law, Hazel Callahan, Charlotte Drouin, and Margaret Smith. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 26, at 10 a.m. at Guibord Funeral Home, with the Rev. Stephen Nichols officiating. Burial will follow at the Lyndon Center Cemetery. Friends may meet with family Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
